As defined by our founder, Edwin Gould in 1927, "...to reach directly the needy children of the present generation and contribute to their health, physical and educational development until they can be returned to a proper home environment or can be self-supporting..."
and as it might be said today, "...to protect and nurture those children whose families are unwilling or unable to care for them and to strengthen families so that every member has the opportunity to help themselves toward a better future..."
VISION - 2011 Edwin Gould Services for Children and Families distinguished as an "AGENCY OF CHOICE" - viewed as a place for quality service and known as a "RELIABLE PARTNER" by children, youth, families, consumers, courts, employees, regulatory groups, funding sources and the community.
Our vision rests on the principles and values embraced in our mission statement and our belief that continuous quality improvement in every aspect of our service is fundamental to the safety and well being of our children and families and ultimaPhny to our success. In support of our mission, we believe that every individual entrusted to our care should be provided an opportunity to develop to his/her fullest potential. It is our responsibility to provide the resources and quality support necessary to enhance family life and independent living for all of our children and families.
Furthermore, we believe that if our children, families and customers do not perceive our service to be of value or do not agree with or receive maximum benefit from the services we offer and the manner in which these are offered, we cannot be successful. It, therefore, is incumbent upon us to provide the best service possible through responsible and caring interventions, education and advocacy.
