Placement Services

Our task was to provide quality services to children, youth and families and maintain the excellent rating the Placement Services staff has received for the past three years. Although it was challenging, we did it again. Edwin Gould’s Placement Services Department exemplifies the staff’s continued commitment to excellence with their achievement of excellent scores in the following key areas:

Foster Parent Timeliness

Training Edwin Gould: 4.00.
System Wide Average: 3.82.
Foster Home Recertifications: 4.00.
System Wide Average is 3.67
Validated Placement Complaints: 5.50.
System Wide Average: 5.15.
Neighborhood Based Services: 8.68.
System Wide Average: 8.63.

Edwin Gould’s Placement Services’ Department was able to maintain these scores by staying focused on our continued plan of emphasizing the "Model Approach to Partnership in Parenting" and Family to Family training method as the centerpiece of the Neighborhood Based Services Initiative, as mandated by the Administration for Children’s Services within our assigned community districts. This resulted in quality homes, which meet the state requirement for certification/recertification for children being placed in the agency. The foster home being of the highest quality allays the concerns of the biological parents and aids them in focusing on the service goals they need to complete in order to have the child(ren) returned home. The Placement Services’ staff continues to attend all 72 hour and 30 day conferences whether where they are held in. parent’s homes, the hospital or at the Rikers Island prison.

For the coming year, our goal is to continue to provide quality services and maintain the excellent ratings as noted above and increase the number of homes available for adolescents entering foster care.
